Position Details: E&I Technician

Description:

Summary: Provides day-to-day support for tissue manufacturing operations. Responsible for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation and communications systems.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Observes and follows all safety regulations and plant procedures including use of personal protection equipment (PPE) such as arc flash equipment, fall protection systems, chemical suits, hard hats, safety glasses, face shields, gloves and other equipment as required to perform job duties safely.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots mill electrical power systems; 3 phase systems of 2,400V, 480V, single phase 240/120V and low voltage 5VDC to 90 VDC. Not only limited to 3 phase Induction motors, Synchronous motors, Servo motors and any special motors
  • Develops and implements E/I maintenance plans and preventive maintenance.
  • Coordinates/plans E/I maintenance field days and outages.
  • Works with storeroom/purchasing to ensure spares are on hand to minimize down time.
  • Uses the PLC system and the DCS system to troubleshoot tissue machines, winders, and water systems.
  • Work Experience on TMEIC,AB and ABB drives preferred
  • Uses NEC to properly size cable, fuses and overloads.
  • Understands analog and digital communication systems Work Experience in ABB, Bailey DCS preferred.
  • Is familiar with fiber optics communications systems.
  • Plans and coordinates the installation, configuration and maintenance upkeep of equipment – motors, motor starters, variable speed drives, various switch types, etc.
  • Plans and coordinates checks and calibration of instruments – valves, flow meters, transmitters including smart devices.
  • Troubleshoots system problems to determine if they are electrical, instrumental or mechanical in nature.
  • Conducts instrument control loop tuning.
  • Familiar with engineered drawings, such as P&ID’s, loop sheets and motor elementary.
  • May be assigned to special projects as needed.
  • Support Core teams: help resolve technical issues or repair procedures as required; coach maintenance FLLs as needed; EDP Oversight; Precision Motor Program; IEPM; MWS Team participation
  • Failure Elimination
  • RCFA Facilitation: champion use of RCFA for the area. Does not lead all RCFA’s, but ensures engagement of workforce, proper root causes identified, and action items are completed
  • Coordinate priorities with operations

· MWS Work participation: participate in prioritizing Area work orders; ensure Indirect Work Order / Management of Change identified as required; ensure proper preventive maintenance shutdown work is completed; annual outage work, Keeping Drawings and Loop sheets updated as and when necessary changes are done

· Capital and Repair Projects

· Facility Plan Development: maintain 5 yr repair plan for area

· Participate in Capital Plan development

· Drive continuous improvement through positive influence, ST best practices, FMEA and RCFA

  • Follows ST Tissue Guiding Principles.
  • Support the planning effort of execution of plant shutdown to include: complex job planning, Job co-ordination, resource planning and financial management
  • Monitor effectiveness of E&I predictive and Preventive maintenance
  • Participate in the 5S program, Including Leading 5S Improvements projects as needed
  • Rotation with Other Leaders to provide weekend duty Leadership.

Mill Operations - You must be able to:

  • 24/7 operations • Work rotating work schedules that are subject to change • Work some major holidays, weekends, and nights • Switch between nights and days during Outages • Consider the potential effect on family and the likelihood of missing family event

Qualifications, Education, Skills and /or Experience

· Must have excellent E&I troubleshooting skills

· 3-5 years’ experience working with electrical systems preferred

· 3-5 years’ experience working with instrumentation systems preferred

· 2 year Associates degree in instrumentation or technical discipline preferred

· Ability to interact well with operations, maintenance, engineering and various vendors

· Must be able to read and understand P&ID’s, electrical drawings, etc.

· Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment

· Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel

· Strong technical and maintenance background with electrical power distribution and Instrument/ Controls experience

· Ability to manage and lead multiple projects

· Proficient with Microsoft and CMMS systems

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Must have good interpersonal skills with ability to interact at all levels

· Must possess great time management skills

Frequently: sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, speak and hear clearly, work with others, use keyboard/calculator and lift up to 10 pounds.

Occasionally: ascend/descend stairs, ladders or ramps, bend forward at waist, crouch, push, pull, twist, drive, handle, reach above the shoulders, use hand tools, reach below shoulders, squat and lift up to 20 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
